Land certificates presented to mahalla committee leaders in Nosiri Khusrav
On May 25th, a round table was held in Nosiri Khusrav in order to present land certificates to the chairmen of mahalla (neighborhood) committees in the district.
The head of Nosiri Khusrav, Ramazon Alikhon Oymahmadzoda, took part in the event. During the meeting, he noted the importance of the project for the region and expressed his support. According to the head of the district, the construction of offices for mahalla committees will be the first step towards innovation and the simplification of administrative procedures for citizens.
Each chairman of a mahalla committee received a land certificate.
As part of the project, ‘The Mahalla – A Good Governance Guarantor’ implemented by the civil society organization "Elyor" within the framework of the ‘Good Governance Initiative Fund’, Nosiri Khusrav district authorities will be allocated two hundred square meters of land so that each mahalla committee can build their own office. The ‘Good Governance Initiative Fund’ is being implemented by EFCA-Tajikistan and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The construction of the offices will be carried out by the ‘hashar’ method, with funds and construction work provided by mahalla residents.
The mahalla committees will work as one organization, learning to cooperate in order to formulate policies, draw up strategic plans, manage municipal finances and property, develop human resources, enhance transparency, facilitate social mobilization, share experiences, and build their capacity together. Mahalla committee members will then become active participants in the implementation of local government reforms.
