The Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia – Tajikistan will hold a closing conference for the EU-funded project “Improving the Framework for the Reporting and Resolution of Gender - Based Violence (GBV) in Tajikistan”

   Dushanbe, July 23, 2019 - The Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia – Tajikistan (hereinafter EFCA - Tajikistan), within the framework of the project “Improving the Framework for the Reporting and Resolution of Gender - Based Violence (GBV) in Tajikistan,” funded by the European Union, will hold a closing conference on July 23, 2019 in the Hilton Hotel, Dushanbe. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, and public organizations that are working in the field of family violence prevention, as well as international partners, are expected to participate.

   The primary purpose of this conference is to provide concluding remarks regarding the results of the work conducted on the project, having taken place over the past two years, during which the project was conducted in cooperation with EFCA - Tajikistan, the European Union, the Estonian Institute for Human Rights, and the state structures of the Republic of Tajikistan. The goal of the project was to improve the provision of services to people who requested such services to assist them, as well as coordinating further joint actions to improve the quality of services provided.

   Welcoming remarks and the announcement of the commencement of the conference will be delivered by Ms. Kosimzoda Idigul Tago on behalf of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs, under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. Then, Sayfiddinov Azimzhon of EFCA – Tajikistan, and Marilyn Josefson, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Tajikistan, will deliver additional remarks.

   Kosimzoda Idigul, Head of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, will detail his cooperation with EFCA - Tajikistan and provide a summary of the results of the project, including the opening of a Resource Centre and the conclusion that there exists a need to open additional such centers. The Director of EFCA – Tajikistan, Saifiddinov Azimzhon, will then conduct a presentation according the project: Project Experience “Improving the Framework for Reporting and Resolution of Gender - Based Violence (GBV) in Tajikistan”, which will provide detailed information pertaining to the achievements and difficulties encountered in the project during the two years of its implementation. Dilshod Mulloev, a Candidate of Legal Sciences and the Head of the Department of the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, will provide analysis and recommendations on the results of the work conducted. Raid Juku-Kalle and Koort Jekaterina will then speak on the topic: “EFCA-Tajikistan’s Cooperation with the Estonian Institute of Human Rights”, within the framework of the ongoing project.
