Project: «Activating the Potential of Civil Society Organizations as Actors and Partners in the Governance, Accountability and Implementation of Rural Development Projects», funded by the European Union in Tajikistan.

From January 2018 to February 2021, the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia-Tajikistan implemented the project «Activating the Potential of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) as Actors and Partners in the Governance, Accountability and Implementation of Rural Development Projects», funded by the European Union in Tajikistan.
  

The project is aimed to support the initiatives of public organizations pointed at sustainable local development.

In the framework of the project was supported and implemented 30 projects (20 in the first phase and 10 in the second phase) of the public organizations of Khatlon, Sughd regions, cities, and district of republican subordination.

According to the project activities of civil society organizations from five districts of Khatlon and Sughd regions, cities and districts of republican subordination created mahalla committees as an accountable platform for the management and providing the joint sustainable rural development, based on the cooperation between CSO, private sector (entrepreneurs), and other local public authorities and relevant stakeholders.


By the end of the project, the role of civil society organizations was strengthened in the implementation of rural development projects in Tajikistan by increasing cooperation between CSOs, government, private sector (entrepreneurs), and community in the rural areas.
